We are in the planning stages of your trip and are looking forward to seeing both old and new
fishing friends. This letter is intended to cover several items:

  • Gear and tackle list
  • Alaska flights to and from river
  • Airlines reservations from home location
  • Anchorage hotels
  • Contract payment procedure
  • Adult beverages
  • Emergency contact in Alaska

GEAR AND TACKLE LIST (See attached material)

It is important that you do not bring too much gear. This may cause problems on your return flight when you bring salmon home – either incurring extra charges or being bumped from aflight. Weight restrictions, around 50 lbs., are recommended due to the size of the aircraft operated and, most importantly, for safety reasons.

FISH COOLERS

Each fisherman is welcome to take home salmon adhering to Alaska Fish & Game limits. Please bring your own 48-quart fish cooler or fish box to transport your fish back home. Guests
should only need one duffle bag with non-cotton clothing, rain gear, boots, and other important items from our gear list.

FLIGHT TO ILIAMNA FROM ANCHORAGE

ATFS only arranges the RT floatplane air charter from the remote village of Iliamna to camp, via Rainbow River Aviation, as itemized on the invoice/contract.

It is guests’ responsibility to arrange RT air transportation from Anchorage to Iliamna for the morning of your departure to camp and back. Guests must call, reserve, and pay Lake
and Peninsula Air directly to arrange and guarantee transportation. Please call Jon Ludwig with Lake & Peninsula Air at (907) 781-2228 or (907) 571-2228 or email lakeandpenair@gmail.com to make your reservation. Remember to reconfirm your reservation with them one week prior to your arrival.

FLIGHT FROM MULCHATNA RIVER BACK TO ANCHORAGE
Your floatplane flight, which is arranged by ATFS will leave our river location to Iliamna the
morning of your departure from camp. You will continue on to Anchorage via Lake & Peninsula
Air. Again, it is guests’ responsibility to ensure their RT travel reservation from Iliamna to
Anchorage is arranged directly with Lake & Peninsula Air.

NOTE: It is HIGHLY advised not to book your departing flight out of Anchorage to your home location on the day you leave camp until later that night or the following day. Keep in mind that we are located in the Bristol Bay region and the weather can cause travels delays due to fog and wind.

AIRLINE RESERVATIONS

You will need to be in Anchorage the night before the morning flight to our river location. Keep in mind there is freezer storage available at the Anchorage airport ITS Storage Services, phone 907-248-0373.

ANCHORAGE HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS

Although you have many accommodation choices in Anchorage, we have a few recommendations close to the Ted Stevens International Airport at different price levels.
Remember to book the room for the evening prior to the date of your departure to our river location, and possibly the night of your return. Please ask for the Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris
rate to take advantage of the Negotiated Rate Agreement.

  2. Offers complimentary shuttle to and from the Ted Stevens International Airport

    taxi to Lake & Pen Air at Merrill Air Field.
  4. The most common reservation is for the Junior Suite consisting of two queen beds and is approximately $235/night. There is also a Standard Room for around $199/night and a Master Suite for $260/night.

    • Located on the shores of Lake Hood and close to the airport, The Lakefront Anchorage
    Hotel, is a classic Alaskan-themed hotel completely renovated in 2015.
    • Offers complimentary shuttle to and from the Ted Stevens International Airport.
    • Restaurant/bar/exercise room/gift shop on site and freezer storage for your fish. You will
    need to take an Uber or taxi to Lake & Pen Air at Merrill Air Field. • The most common reservation is a two queen beds or one king room and is

    AIRBNB
    In addition to hotels in Anchorage, many of our guests have found that staying in a short-term
    vacation rental gives more bang for the buck in Anchorage. Feel free to browse the many

    FISHING LICENSES

    A 7-day non-resident fishing license ($45), and a king salmon stamp at ($45) is required at our river location. Non-resident fisherman under the age of 16, do not need a license or a stamp.
    You must purchase your Alaska fishing license online through the AK Fish & Game website BEFORE your trip at www.adfg.gov
